This is a magnificent piece that took a long time to create, with the entire fabric embroidered with 12 strands of navy blue thread on Oshima Tsumugi.
By piercing the fabric with needles at 5mm intervals, we created a textured finish that gives the piece a heavy feel.
The Mouge technique of sashiko stitching involves stitching in a single line without joining the thread, and the longer the length of the garment, the fewer pieces can be produced, making it a rare piece.
